At Bonsai Dental, we believe in combining expert care with the latest advancements in dental technology to provide our patients with the very best. Our in-practice diagnostic equipment allows us to deliver faster, more accurate, and more comfortable care — all under one roof. By investing in advanced imaging systems such as CBCT and OPG scanners, we are able to streamline your treatment journey, avoid unnecessary referrals, and ensure you receive the attention you need without delay.

CBCT Scanner (Cone Beam Computed Tomography)

Our state-of-the-art CBCT scanner captures detailed 3D images of your teeth, bone, nerves, and surrounding structures, giving our clinicians a complete picture for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. This is particularly valuable for:

  • Dental implant planning
  • Root canal (endodontic) assessment
  • Wisdom tooth evaluation
  • Orthodontic diagnostics
  • TMJ (jaw joint) analysis

Benefits of having a CBCT scanner in-practice:

  • No need to travel elsewhere – everything is done here at Bonsai Dental
  • Quicker diagnoses – with immediate access to scans, we can begin planning your treatment right away
  • Greater precision – detailed 3D views allow for safer and more predictable outcomes
  • Comfortable and efficient – the scan takes just seconds and uses low radiation levels

OPG Scanner (Orthopantomogram)

An OPG scan provides a panoramic view of your entire mouth, including all teeth, both jaws, and surrounding structures, all in a single image. This broad overview is essential for a variety of treatments and is commonly used to assess:

  • Tooth development and eruption patterns
  • Impacted or missing teeth
  • Jaw and sinus health
  • Orthodontic treatment planning

Benefits of having an OPG scanner in-practice:

  • Fast and convenient – carried out on-site during your appointment
  • Saves time – no need to visit external imaging centres
  • Comprehensive diagnosis – helps us identify issues early and plan your care thoroughly
  • Ideal for children and nervous patients – non-invasive, quick, and comfortable

FAQ’s

Is a CBCT scan safe?

Yes, CBCT scans are very safe and use a low dose of radiation. The scan is quick and non-invasive, and we only recommend it when absolutely necessary to help with diagnosis and treatment planning.

No special preparation is required. You may be asked to remove jewellery or metal objects from around your head and neck, but otherwise, the scan is simple and straightforward.

Both CBCT and OPG scans typically take less than a minute to complete. The entire process, including positioning and explanation, usually takes no more than 10 minutes.

Yes — because the scanners are located in-practice, your dentist can usually view and interpret the images during your appointment. This means faster diagnoses and more immediate treatment planning.

There may be an additional fee for CBCT or OPG imaging, depending on your treatment. We will always inform you of any costs beforehand and explain why the scan is needed as part of your care.
